No-exam life insurance
Who gets approved for accelerated underwriting, how the process works, and what to expect if you don't qualify.
Many insurers now offer accelerated underwriting: for applicants in certain age and coverage ranges, they issue decisions using your application, drug history, driving record, and other data rather than paying for a paramedical exam. Some approvals arrive within a day. The quote tool shows each product's exam status.
What it changes
Skipping a medical exam doesn't mean skipping underwriting altogether. Your answers are checked, and a policy issued on false information can be contested during the first two years. If your records raise questions, the carrier might ask for an exam or lab tests anyway; you can decide to continue or stop.
Who tends to qualify
Usually those under roughly age 60 seeking amounts below the carrier's accelerated limit, with no serious health issues and no tobacco use for at least a year. If you had recent blood work from a doctor visit, some carriers will accept those results instead of requiring a new exam.
Should an exam be required, expect a 20- to 30-minute appointment with a paramedical examiner at your home or office in the Palm Springs region, at no charge. Healthy applicants often see their rate class improve after an exam, so the exam is not necessarily unfavorable.
